1. Who we are
Pet Care Notes is operated by the individual developer Weizhichao Wei (卫智超) in Shanghai, China. There is no separate company name. Contact: weizhichao1027@gmail.com. App Store listing: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6788202619.
2. What we collect
This live version does not upload your pet file, tasks, health notes, photo attachments, or visit summaries to a developer server. The developer does not run a cloud database for that content. App Store Connect privacy answers are Data Not Collected, and Tracking is No.
In ordinary use the operator does not receive your name, email (unless you write to us), precise location, contacts, Health app data, payment data, or an advertising identifier.
3. Data stored on your iPhone
What you type is stored on this device by default, using SwiftData and the app’s local container (Application Support), including:
- Pet name, type (cat or dog), breed, birthday, sex, neuter status, weight, microchip id, insurance note, clinic contact
- Allergies, chronic conditions, usual medications, feeding preference, care notes
- Care tasks, reminder times, health records (appetite, water, stool, urine, vomiting, energy, weight, unusual signs, medication traces, remarks), medical notes (vaccine, deworming, exam, surgery, medication, allergy, history, other), visit summaries
- Copies of avatars and attachment photos you pick (JPEG, inside the app container; the camera stays closed)
- Interface language preference, the selected pet, and local-notification identifiers (UserDefaults)
This data is for you to review, build a summary, export, or hand off. The developer cannot read it remotely.
4. What this app does not do
- No account, sign-in, or household sharing
- No iCloud, CloudKit, or other developer-controlled cloud sync
- No ads, analytics SDK, crash-reporting SDK, or tracking SDK
- No Apple Health / HealthKit, no contacts access, no continuous location
- No online diagnosis, prescription, or dose advice
5. Photos
When you pick images with the system photo picker, Pet Care Notes reads only the photo you selected and stores a JPEG copy in the local attachments folder. It does not scan the whole library and does not open the camera. Deleting the related record, purging hidden data, or deleting the app removes those copies.
6. Notifications
After you allow it, Pet Care Notes uses iOS local notifications for vaccines, deworming, exams, and tasks. The system schedules them on the device. They do not pass through a developer server. You can turn them off in iOS Settings › Notifications › Pet Care Notes at any time. After that, local alerts stop.
7. Export, share, and backup
Content leaves the app container only when you act, and only to a destination you choose:
- Text export: a text extract of pets on this device, without photo files
- Visit summary: PDF or image
- Temporary-care list: text or PDF
- Full backup: a zip (backup.json plus photos in files/). You save it to Files, a computer, or your own drive. The app does not upload it for you.
- The system share sheet: may hand content to Mail, Messages, Files, or another app you tap
Those destinations follow their own policies. The developer cannot control them. Importing a zip or an older JSON backup also happens only on the device.
8. System APIs and the privacy manifest
The app’s PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy file states: no tracking, and no collected data types sent to the developer. Required Reason APIs used are UserDefaults (in-app preferences, reason CA92.1) and file timestamps (local file management, reason C617.1). Export compliance is declared as not using encryption that needs extra documentation.
9. Retention, deletion, and withdrawal
On-device data stays until you delete the record, permanently purge hidden data under Me, delete the app, or clear app data in iOS Settings. After you delete a pet or a record, it is hidden first; you then choose to purge it. A purge removes the matching photos and reminders and leaves pets you still use. Uninstalling the app deletes the local container. Because the developer has no copy, we cannot restore or erase it remotely for you.
10. Email you send us
If you write to weizhichao1027@gmail.com, we see the address, body, and attachments you send, only to answer support or privacy questions. Mail is kept as long as needed to handle that request, then deleted.
11. Third parties
The app does not embed a third-party analytics, ads, or sign-in SDK. Third parties you may meet are Apple (App Store distribution and system services such as notifications, the photo picker, the share sheet, and Files) and any share or storage target you pick.
12. This website
Marketing, support, and privacy pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. This site does not set a first-party analytics or advertising cookie, and it does not embed an analytics SDK. Opening a page may create ordinary access logs at GitHub (for example IP and User-Agent). That is not in-app collection. Screenshots on the site are product demo frames, not your pet file. The Smart App Banner on iPhone is shown by the system from the App Store listing; it does not send your file to the developer.
13. Children
Pet Care Notes is for pet carers keeping notes. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not collect data from children. If a minor uses the app, the notes still stay on that device. A parent or guardian can delete the app or clear its data. We do not knowingly ask children for personal information. The App Store age rating is 13+ because the app may include infrequent pet medical-treatment topics, not because it collects data from children.
14. Your rights and regional notes
Because care notes do not leave your device by default, access, correction, and deletion happen in the app: edit a record, delete it, purge hidden data, or uninstall. If you emailed us, you can write again to access or delete that correspondence.
China PIPL: the operator does not automatically collect personal information through this app. On-device processing happens on your iPhone. When you share or back up, you choose the recipient.
EU / UK GDPR: for in-app pet notes, the developer is not a processor, because those notes never reach our servers. For support email, Weizhichao Wei is the controller of that correspondence, on the basis of answering your request. You may access, correct, erase, or restrict that mail, and you may complain to a supervisory authority.
California CCPA / CPRA: we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not obtain sellable personal information from app use.
15. Medical boundary
Pet Care Notes is for pet-care notes and clinic prep. It is not a medical device and does not replace a veterinarian. It does not provide an online diagnosis, a prescription, or dose advice. For urgent or ongoing problems, contact a pet clinic or emergency service.
16. Changes
If data practices change, for example if cloud sync, accounts, or analytics are added later, this page’s date and text will be updated first, and App Store privacy answers will be updated when required. Use the last-updated date on this page.
