How to use it, and what to do if it stalls

Install or update from the App Store

On iPhone, open the App Store and search for Pet Care Notes or 毛孩子, or use this App Store link. The app is free, iPhone only, and needs iOS 17 or later. Updates also come from the App Store. The current store version is 1.1.

Add a pet

Open Pets. If the list is empty, tap Add pet. If you already have a file, tap the plus button. Enter a name, choose cat or dog, and save. The app creates a common care plan for that type (vaccines, deworming, weigh-in, yearly exam; litter for cats / grooming for dogs). Allergies, conditions, usual meds, feeding notes, care remarks, microchip id, insurance, and clinic contact sit on that pet. Avatars and attachments come from the photo library. The camera stays closed.

Today

After you open the app, start with the care desk, today’s check-in, and tasks. Mark feeding or a task done when you finish it. You can also open a task and change its date. Due vaccines, deworming, and exams show here. For local alerts, allow notifications under Me. If alerts are off, the app will not interrupt you on every cold launch.

Records

Ten types: appetite, water, stool, urine, vomiting, energy, weight, unusual signs, medication traces, and remarks. Use a preset, change the time, add a note, and attach a photo from the library. Filter the timeline by all / unusual / weight / photos. Open a row to view or edit it. Weight has a trend next to that filter. The timeline is a fact sheet for you and the clinic, not a diagnosis.

Medical notes

Types: vaccine, deworming, exam, surgery, medication, allergy, history, other. Fields include title, detail, date, and next due. You can attach a photo from the library. Due items return to Today. This is not a dedicated lab-sheet manager.

Summaries

Before a visit, build a 7-, 14-, or 30-day summary. It gathers the file, allergies, conditions, meds, a record overview, weight change, the timeline, medical notes, and finished tasks. It does not diagnose. Export a PDF or image for family or the clinic.

Temporary care

From the pet page, open the temporary-care list. It includes only that pet’s allergies, conditions, usual meds, feeding notes, remarks, open tasks, and a note not to change medicine or dose on their own. Share as text or a PDF. The other person does not need the app or an account.

Me: backup, language, deletion

  • A full backup is a zip (backup.json plus photos in files/). Save it yourself to Files or a computer. There is no iCloud or cloud sync. Delete the app without an export and the data is gone.
  • Text export is health-record text only. It does not include photo files.
  • The interface can follow the system, or you can pick one of 13 languages under Me. Arabic is right-to-left.
  • Deleted pets or records are hidden first. Purge them under Me, or confirm before you restore.
  • Demo data sits at the bottom of Me › View privacy note. It is marked 演示 or Demo for App Review only and can be cleared in one tap.

Care helper

The helper sorts the words you typed, on this device, into a risk level, suggested actions, watch points, and visit-prep notes. It does not go online or call an external model. It is not an online consult. It will not give a prescription or a dose. You can save the result as an unusual-sign record.

If the on-device store will not open

A recovery screen offers retry, import a backup, or rebuild an empty store. Rebuilding an empty store clears anything on this device that you have not exported. Change phones with a zip backup. Do not expect iCloud.

Where do I download Pet Care Notes?

How do I update Pet Care Notes?
Open the Pet Care Notes page in the App Store on iPhone, or use the Updates list, then tap Update. The current store version is 1.1.
How do I add a pet?
Open Pet Care Notes and go to Pets. If you have no file yet, tap Add pet. If you already have one, tap the plus button. Enter a name, choose cat or dog, and save. The app then creates common care tasks for that type.
How do I use today’s tasks and check-in?
Open the app and start on Today. The care desk, the four-item check-in (appetite, water, stool, mood), and tasks are there. Mark feeding or a task done when you finish it. You can also open a task and change its date. Due vaccines, deworming, and exams also show on Today.

How do I build a visit summary?
Add a pet and some records first, then open Summaries and generate a 7-, 14-, or 30-day packet. It only arranges notes you already wrote. Export a PDF or image. It does not diagnose.
Why did a due item stay silent?
Go to iOS Settings › Notifications › Pet Care Notes and allow alerts. If you had tapped Don’t Allow, the app cannot turn this back on by itself. After you allow it, return to Me and sync reminders. Alerts are local and do not pass through a developer server.
Is there iCloud? Where are my notes after I change phones?
There is no iCloud or server sync. Export a zip on the old device under Me, then import it on the new one. Older JSON-only backups still import, but they have no photo files. Delete the app without an export and the data is gone.
How do I change the language?
Open Me › Language. Follow the system, or lock one of 13 languages, including Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English. The Chinese store name is 毛孩子; the English store name is Pet Care Notes.
How do I delete my data?
Deleted pets or records are hidden first. Purge them under Me, or uninstall the app to remove the local container. The developer has no cloud copy and cannot erase or restore it remotely.
Why is a photo missing?
A photo is copied into the app container only after you pick it from the library. If a backup warns that some photos were not written into the zip, those images may be missing after restore. Import also reports how many attachments did not come back.
Can I treat demo data as a real chart?
No. Demo data is written into the real on-device store for App Review only. It is marked 演示 or Demo and can be cleared under Me › View privacy note. Build your own file for daily use.
What if the on-device store will not open?
The app shows a recovery screen: retry, import a backup, or rebuild an empty store. Rebuilding an empty store drops data on this device that you have not exported.
Is there Android or a web app?
No. This version is iPhone only. There is also no household sharing and no account.
Can it diagnose or suggest a dose?
No. Summaries and the helper only arrange what you wrote. Ask a veterinarian in person about medicine, a prescription, or a diagnosis.
