Move from standard tuning to Drop D
Start from standard EADGBE, then lower only the thick sixth string from E2 to D2. The remaining strings stay A2, D3, G3, B3 and E4. In GuitarTool, select Drop D and work from the sixth string toward the first, letting the stability indicator settle before moving on.

Check the whole guitar, not only the low D
Changing one string alters neck tension slightly, so recheck all six strings after the first pass. Drop D makes a D5 power chord available across the lowest three strings at one fret while keeping familiar shapes on the upper strings.
